Human blunder or ‘Act of God’?
On 31st March 2016, a huge flyover collapsed in the Indian city of Kolkata, killing 27 people and injuring many more.
Construction on the 1.4 mile Vivekananda flyover began in 2009 across the Girish Park neighbourhood, but work was
never finished.
Immediately after the collapse, the construction firm tried to pass it off as an accident and an ‘Act of God’ but later they
were charged with murder, under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.
