Asylum
by Jonathon Tattersall
These photographs were taken at  Severalls asylum in the town of Colchester in the south of England. After setting off at 3 o'clock in the morning, the drive down was a long and tense one, knowing that at any point we could be caught and escorted off site and then this would have been a waste of a journey for us. Luckily after a few scares, we had about 3 hours to navigate and document this former asylum. Jonathon’s blog is a photographic and informative record of all the sites he’s visited. Being from the North of England the majority of Jonathon’s work features the left behind textile and woollen mills, something the north is well known for. “I love looking at architecture that is left behind to decay and crumble.  Its a far cry from the modern architecture that we see springing up in our modern towns and cities.”
