Flood! Reguengo do Alviela Portugal

Almost every year, the village of Reguengo do Alviela, center of Portugal, becomes an island during the rainy seasons. the Tagus River waters rise causing floods and affecting the local population. Some decide to leave their homes but others refuse to leave their belongings behind while the water level remains high. The firefighters are the only connection they have to dry land, making numerous trips to bail the locals out. These pictures were taken in April, 2013.
