Eternal Light

“A free, really high quality photo-essay magazine.  Fabulous!” Stephen Fry. British actor, writer and film & documentary maker
For this project I went back to the place where I grew up, a greenhouse area in The Netherlands. I noticed that it’s almost impossible to find places where the sky is dark and clear. With this body of work I want to show an image of the 24-hour economy that prevails today. Not only in the city, but also in the village landscape it plays an important role, with all its consequences. On all fronts we try to produce as much light as possible. Because of this light pollution, the landscape and nature are very alienated. Not only does the landscape look strange, but also strange things happen in nature. Birds begin chirping and other animals are awake at 2 / 3 o’clock in the morning (see my film). This project is about the relationship between human and nature and about the artificiality of the modern Dutch landscape.
