Euromaidan was a wave of demonstrations, civil unrest and clashes with riot police on Maidan (Independent square), nearby in the centre of Kiev and in other major cities all over Ukraine which began on the night of 21 November 2013 with pro-European demonstrations and rapidly developed into anti-government protests and revolution. Thousands of people gathered each day over the following months demanding the resignation of the President, Viktor Yanukovych, his government and early elections. Several buildings in the centre of the Kyiv were taken over by protesters. The protests reached a climax in the middle of the February 2014. During these three months of demonstrations and clashes, Mikhail Palinchak photographed Maidan in Kiev, life and people on the streets. As he documented the scenes at least 115 people were killed and more than 500 injured.
