The increasing polarization of British society over the last thirty years has equated to a variety of social ills of which the use of class A substances has become and increasing issue.The ‘commodification’ of the countryside as a place for the benefactors of this post-industrial society to live and prosper has led to certain (former industrial) provisional cities and towns becoming epicentres of this practice – as it is no longer economically viable to house and treat addicts in the more expensive rural/suburban locales.These images document the plight of a number of individuals caught up in this practice in Southern England between 2007 and 2009.
