Damian Bird (born London, 1972) is a photographer, photojournalist and lecturer
with many years of experience, working in war zones and trouble spots around the
globe.
He was educated in Photography at the Surrey College of Art and Design and at the
London College of Communication where he studied for a post graduate degree in
Photojournalism.
In 2011 he founded Life Force magazine with his business partner and wife of 16
years, Alice. As well as Editing Life Force magazine, he is currently engaged in
photographing a series of photo-essays on English culture and has recently returned
to Afghanistan.His first book Seabird was released in November 2017.
Werner Bischof
WERNER BISCHOF (1916-1954) was a Swiss photographer and photo journalist,
who became a fulltime member of Magnum in 1949 following his extensive
documentation of the devastation across Europe in the aftermath of World War II.
The only member of Magnum up until his death in 1954 who had received an art
school training, Bischof had originally intended to become a painter and his style
was influenced by his graphic design background. His experiences documenting
post-war Europe made Bischof question his role as a photographer and he became
committed to using the medium as a tool for social change. His desire to focus on
post-war humanist photography, sparked a longing to travel the world capturing the
beauty of humanity and nature, as well as the poverty and despair. He began to
embrace a more photojournalistic approach and, from 1951 to 1952, dedicated
himself to documenting social and political issues across Asia. Bischof worked for
national newspapers and magazines including LIFE and Paris Match, for which he

the Telegraph, the Express, the Observer, GQ, Esquire, Daily Mail, Dazed & Confused,The Face, Country Life, Coast and
Geographical magazine. He lives in Devon, England with his wife, four children and his dachshunds, Jessie and Wilhelmina.
Rajib Singha

Rajib Singha is a self-taught photographer and a teacher by profession who lives in
West Bengal, India. Rajib has contributed to multiple citizen journalism sites such as
Reuters Your View, Yahoo News, BBC Your View and others, along with national
news dailies. As well, Rajib has won multiple photography competitions nationally
and internationally.
Sibylle Fendt

Sibylle Fendt (b. 1974) studied photography at Fachhochschule Bielefeld and with Wolfgang Tillmans at Städelschule in
Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Since 2002 she works as a freelancer and teaches at the famous Ostkreuzschule for
Photography and Design in Berlin. For her work she has received numerous awards, e.g. the Kodak-Nachwuchs-
Förderpreis organized by Kodak; the Wüstenrot Award for documentary photography; the Vattenfall Photo Award. In
photography projects that are often developed over several years, Sibylle Fendt likes to focus on people who are at a
deadend or a fork in the road of their life stories.

Rob Ball is a British photographer and senior lecturer at Canterbury Christ Church
University. He is represented by The Photographers’ Gallery and his work has been
exhibited worldwide.
This is his third photography book exploring coastal communities.
Carolina Sandretto

Carolina Sandretto is an Italian photographer based in New York City with a background in both non-profit organisations
management and documentary filmmaking. Her work focuses on human stories and aims to foster social change.
Her journey through Cuba took her around the island three times over the course of four years, during which time she
photographed more than 300 cinemas. Every time she entered a new city or village, she would try to find an elderly
person and ask them for directions to the cinema. Every time she was surprised with what she found, they were always
completely different from one another. She made portraits of the constructions from both inside and out. Scars,
remodeling, abandonment, they were like living creatures that have a personal history with their stories visible on them.

Tim Brown began taking photos in 1980, around the same time that he started a 20-year stint working on London
Underground. He was a Central Line train driver for 13 years and lived in East London for over 20 before moving to Essex
with his wife and two children.
Daido Moriyama

internationally and has made a unique contribution to modern and contemporary
photography.
worked as a war reporter in Vietnam. After visiting the U.S. in 1953, he travelled down to Mexico and Panama, before
carrying onto Peru and Chile, which would be his final journey. Werner Bischof died on 16th May 1954, at the age of only
38, when the Jeep that he was travelling in veered off an Andean mountain road, killing all passengers, only nine days
before Magnum founder Robert Capa lost his life in Indochina.
