The ' Vasontatsav' or the 'Festival of Spring' is centred on the color festival of India, the 'Holi' with a distinct Bengali
flavour. In this case, it is celebrated few days ahead of the main 'Holi' festival by the students of the Rabinda Bharati
University of Kolkata inside the compound of the residence of Nobel Laurette poet, Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore at
Jorasanko Thakurbari.
Students perform Tagore's songs and dances to enthrall the spectators in a colorful extravaganza under the able
guidance and active participation of their teachers. The function ends with smearing each others' faces with colored
powder called 'aabir'.
