The magazine of the photo-essay
“A free, really high quality photo-essay magazine. Fabulous!”
Stephen Fry. British actor, writer and film maker
by Joel Meyerowitz
Where I Find Myself presents a candid account of Joel Meyerowitz’s work and life:
growing up as a street kid in the East Bronx tenements; his first experience of
photography in 1962; his documentation of an America mired by the Vietnam War,
and his harrowing return to NYC in the aftermath of 9/11, “the streets … quiet, the air
heavy with smoke and stench.”
What emerges is not only an historical account of the life and work of a photography
icon, but a fascinating self-portrait of an artist who has been at the forefront of
culture for over 50 years.
