Each year in Bangkok, the end of November heralds the beginning of the Chinese Opera season. An ever dwindling
number of dedicated troupes perform on stages they assemble themselves in a series of temples and shrines tucked
away in and around Bangkok's Chinatown district.
Sleeping beneath the stage and living like gypsies, a strong sense of community is evident amongst the performers.
Often with children and babies in-tow three generations of performers can be found in a performing troupe. Financing
the operation is precarious with local businessmen largely sponsoring the performances.
