This project is a body of work which I’m still building with images that follow the line between metaphor, symbols,
mystery, the subliminal and fantasy to evoke the spirit and atmosphere of the highlands in Peru. I'm trying to
transfigure the daily rural life through photography.
The corpus doesn’t present a literal narrative. It’s a deconstruction of a visual speech, a kind of surrealism so the
history and the context lose weight within the documentary usage of the images. Surrealism could seem to be
something hidden but it’s alive in the human condition and it’s able to activate the imagination in the individual
consciousness.
“Duro de morir” means in english “Hard to die”. It’s a message in one of the photos and also it’s a rhetorical way to
name the spiritual resistance.
