Traces of The Soviet Empire
by Eric Lusito
A free, really high quality photo-essay magazine.  Fabulous! Stephen Fry. British actor, writer and film & documentary maker
Eric Lusito maps what remained of the militaristic power of the USSR from eastern Europe to eastern Siberia. His photographic series, Traces of the Soviet Empire is a long term project and documents the haunting ruins of former bases, monuments and equipment from length and breadth of the empire. The work is based in the form of three series: the exteriors, the interiors, and the found photographs, images from another time, another space and another world. They question us through photography, a technical process of representation, the nature of decay, a natural process of disintegration and lastly ideology, a mental process of manipulation.
